Strategic Outsourcing Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3500 words

Strategic Outsourcing - Essay Example And this is still true today, the two main reasons for outsourcing attested to by a number of scholars   are 1. Improve Company focus, 2. Reduce and control operating costs (Mylot, 1995; Field, 1998; Greaver, 1999; Barthelemy, .2001). However, in recent times, organizations have become increasingly dissatisfied with their outsourcing contracts. An article from the MIT Sloan Management Review (1998) states that a survey by Cap Gemini Ernst & Young found that only 54% of companies are satisfied with their outsourcing, down from more than 80% a decade ago. The landscape of outsourcing has also changed dramatically in the last year with the increased popularity of SOA and raises questions such as 1. How will software vendors react to service-oriented architecture, real-time infrastructure and fusion? 2. How will enterprises achieve value on their investments in software? Similarly how the ESP are going to address to the questions such as 1. Transform their business models from highly c ustom one-to-one services to a one-to-many or many-to-many service model? 2. Effectively partner with ESP’s that are moving or have moved to a leveraged service model.Interestingly enough Gartner predicts that â€Å"by 2007, driven in part by SOA-based Web services, 18 percent of all IT professional services will be deployed in a multi enterprise, shared service environment. Enterprise application vendors are the likely beneficiaries of the SOA bounty when it comes to outsourcing. Vendors such as Oracle and PeopleSoft have grown.

Financial processing is usually very critical and the more reliable the customer perceives the company, the more the trust. It is, therefore, essential that firms handle their financial processes such as invoicing in a more accurate, efficient and reliable manner that can meet the satisfaction of the customers. This is the reason why SSP is restructuring its operations to meet these goals having received myriad complains from its customers. In order to attain this objective, process modelling is identifiably the most significant method that can be used. Measuring The Heat of Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide Lab Report

Measuring The Heat of Decomposition of Hydrogen Peroxide - Lab Report Example The objectives are threefold: to measure the temperature change of a HÂ 2O2 solution as it decomposes, to measure the amount of heat absorbed by the calorimeter and finally to calculate the calorimeter constant and then use it to determine the enthalpy of decomposition. The Lab Quest unit was turned on and the temperature probe plugged in. A 150-mL beaker was wrapped in towel paper and then placed inside a 250-mL beaker. A piece of aluminium foil big enough to cover the top of the two beakers was cut. 25 mL of cold water was measured using a graduated cylinder and poured onto the 150-mL beaker.. 25 mL of hot water was measured into the graduated cylinder and the temperature measured. The temperature probe was placed into the cold water solution in the 150-mL beaker. The Lab Quest unit was then set up to begin recording the temperature by pressing the green button. 25 mL of the hot water was poured into the 150-mL beaker containing the cold water. The cup was then quickly covered with the aluminium foil. The cups were periodically swirled to ensure the contents mixed. Temperature recording was stopped once the temperature began to decline for several minutes. The used water was then poured into the sink. The recorded temperature and time data were entered into an Excel spreadsheet. The steps above were repeated twice and the average value calculated. 250 mL of HÂ 2O2 was obtained. The temperature of the HÂ 2O2 Â was measured and recorded as the initial temperature of the solution and calorimeter. The concentration of the HÂ 2O2 was also recorded. 60 mL of 0.5M KI solution was obtained. 40 mL of the HÂ 2O2 solution was measured into a graduated cylinder and the temperature probe plugged in. 10 mL of KI was measured into another graduated cylinder and then poured into the calorimeter and then quickly covered with an aluminium foil lid. The temperature probe was immediately inserted into the probe through a hole in the foil lid. The temperature recording

Ethical Dilemma Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Ethical Dilemma - Essay Example When the managers investigated the issue, they came to know that the software developer was not able to fulfill the requirements of the customer due to which he was delaying the issue. He tried to hide from the managers his poor skills in removing software errors. Later on, the company provided the customer with his desired software in just two days using another developer. The ethical issue in this example was that the developer tried to hide his inability in removing the errors by trying to delay the issue. The issue not only decreased the customer’s confidence in the company but also resulted in putting a spot on the company’s image. The developer could have tackled the situation in a much different way. He should have made the company aware of the real situation instead of being afraid of losing his job.  I believe that if an employee of a company behaves unethically, it puts an adverse impact on the overall image of the company. It not only results in the loss of customers’ confidence in the company’s products but also affects the image of the company. Therefore, employees should behave ethically in all situations because ethical behavior is the key to the resolution of complex issues. If I would be in the position of the software developer, I would handle the issue differently. I would not hide my disabilities on the cost of losing the customer’s confidence. First, I would collect detailed information to resolve the issue properly. I would come to the customer personally to know the concerns of the customer. 2 Next, I would determine the exact issue by analyzing the information obtained from the customer. I would consider the nature of my job responsibilities and my obligations to the company while determining the issue and my role in resolving the issue. Brown (2011) states, â€Å"Ethical issues that arise in the workplace should be carefully examined, and handled with care, as the determinations of these ethical issu es can lead to the growth or demise of a company†. 3 After determining the key ethical issue, I would identify the individuals who would be involved in the issue. In the above-mentioned case, I would carefully analyze the situation to identify the stakeholders and
